Greetings Campers!
We hope you enjoyed your week at Math CAMP 2013 and left knowing that some of the many new ideas you were exposed to are ones that will positively impact your practice in the coming school year. It was exciting for us to spend a day with you exploring the Coaching Model of Mathematics Professional Learning through the eyes of a facilitator.
Regardless of the model involved, if you are facilitating professional learning in mathematics, we know that students will ultimately benefit when the teachers you’re working with:
model the questioning techniques you use with them … on their students,
pay more attention to what students are thinking … not just what they’ve written, and
use every opportunity to deepen their mathematical content knowledge for teaching.
We wish you every success in supporting student learning in mathematics, whatever your role may be. Please share your successes and challenges with us through the Math Coaching Network (https://community.elearningontario.ca) throughout the school year. In addition, don’t forget to take advantage of the Student Thinking resources available on the OAME 2014 conference website: www.oame2014.ca
For those of you, who find yourselves in the role of a facilitator; please don’t hesitate to let us know in what ways we may provide you with additional support.
